Centre for aesthetic breast surgery

Breast enlargements and breast lifting / breast reductions are virtually the most frequently performed aesthetic operations in Germany. Not only the desire for a smaller or larger breast for purely aesthetic reasons make women go to a specialist - also the symmetry, due to the different shape and size of the breasts, can be so marked that women suffer from this problem. Furthermore, the aesthetic appearance of the nipple also plays a big role. An experienced breast surgeon can make positive changes in this respect.

At the beginning of any desired treatment, detailed consultations are important in order to discuss meaningful and serious treatment options with you and their alternatives.

Our specialist for breast operations, Dr. Ralph Paul Kuner with long-term experience in plastic-reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery, will explain to you the desired treatment including any theoretical risks, the possible complications and the realistic result to be expected.

Breast lifting / breast reduction

Many factors, such as e.g. pregnancy, breastfeeding, age, size and weight of the breast, connective tissue weakness, skin elasticity, genetic disposition and many other factors, can over the years have a substantial influence on the shape of your breasts.

If the skin loses its elasticity, the breast can lose its former shape and tautness, lower substantially and sag. Many women then find their breasts no longer attractive and suffer from early onset "aging" and an unfavourable deformation. Of course, a breast which has always been too large (mammary hyperplasia) can additionally favour the development of "sagging breasts".

Breast lifting - also called mastopexy - is a purely aesthetically indicated operation, in order to reshape sagging breasts and shift them upwards. In this procedure, surplus skin is always removed, the base of the breasts is reduced and the body of the mammary gland is remodelled. An overextended or too large areola can also be made smaller and adapted to the new breast shape and size in the lifting operation. In principle, lifting and reduction operation techniques are similar, just that in breast reduction (reduction plastic) additional mammary gland tissue is removed in the same operation, according to the desire of the patient and the technical possibilities.

If your breasts are too small or have lost volume - e.g. after a pregnancy - the size and firmness of the new breasts can be clearly improved with the addition of a padded breast insert (breast implant) during the same operation, or after a second operation following a healing phase.

Only in an individual, personal medical consultation at the Rosenpark Hospital will we be able to explain and communicate to you when an operation is meaningful, how it will be accomplished and what result you can realistically expect.

Please ask your physician and operating surgeon at the Rosenpark Hospital everything that interests you or what you have not understood so far.

We would like to advise you so that you will come closer to your desire to be fully satisfied with yourself and your breasts again.

Breast enlargement / breast augmentation

The decision for a breast enlargement (augmentation plastic) is a decision to visibly improve the body silhouette and accentuate one of the most important female attributes for all female patients who feel that their breasts are too small (mammary hypoplasia) : the bosom.

As with other aesthetic operations, the limitations of the definition "when are the breasts too small" is blurred and in the long run it is a personal decision of the patient and physician in weighing up the advantages and disadvantages of an operation. Everything is possible starting from natural, small but shapely breasts up to clearly enlarged breasts with aesthetically attractive results.

An indispensable prerequisite is a detailed consultation and comprehensive clarification of the planned operation, its execution and the associated risks with an intensively trained or specialized physician.

Lady patient instructors, so-called "patient educators", have been integrated at the Rosenpark Hospital to carry out an initial information/orientation discussion with you free-of-charge, if so desired. All details of implant types, implant surfaces, operative access, alternatives and limitations of what is possible and sensible will be explained to you, which will then - assuming your wish for a breast enlargement has then materialised – be discussed with our specialist Dr. Kuner in the 2nd medical consultation, including important and crucial facts for your individual operation plan.

The objective of breast enlargement for most women as implant bearers is naturally enlarged breasts without any visible stigmatization or ‘aftertaste’ of an artificial bosom! In addition, all signs of the operation, the incision, should be hardly visible and the new, larger bosom should have a similar palpable feeling to a natural breast.

In this respect, the choice of the shape, the filling and the size of the breast implant are the most important factors, besides the individual existing breast and skin / soft-tissue relationship, which have an influence on the result after the operation and the associated patient satisfaction. Based on a precise planning before the operation and the exact discussion of the specific desires of the patient, breast enlargement is always an individual decision from a mosaic of different criteria.

It is important for the decision to go ahead with breast enlargement that the patient wishes this shape-improving operation for herself and her well-being! That she finds herself more attractive with larger breasts and experiences a greater feeling of self-esteem. The operation should never be carried out just because of a partner’s wish or because of pressure by another person.

If the breasts are too small and sag (hanging chest, mastoptosis) a breast enlargement can, of course, be combined with breast lifting and/or a reduction of the areola. Depending upon the best suitable lifting technique, both operations can be accomplished at the same time (simultaneous-ly, at the same time) or stepwise (sequentially, in two sessions).

Before the patient decides for a shape-improving, breast-enlarging operation, she should consider her expectations and desires and discuss these with her physician and operating surgeon. It is not possible to fulfil every "dream bosom", as individual factors such as the existing soft-tissue mantle or the condition of the skin may not guarantee long-term satisfactory results. Thanks to our many years of experience, we will nevertheless be able to offer you a detailed and honest consultation. We look forward to your visit.
