The Rosenpark Klinik has specialized in the most modern and, according to today's state-of-the-art scientific research, lowest-risk method of cosmetic fat removal (liposuction). Several liposuction procedures are successfully performed everyday by our specialists. Using the gentle vibrating cannula technique, surplus fatty tissue in all body regions is removed pain-free and lastingly using just tumescent local anaesthesia. This method makes it possible for the young and old to get closer to achieving their desired figure. In addition, liposuction can also stretch and tighten slackened skin portions. Contrary to lifting in a general anaesthetic, liposuction is a much less complicated intervention - but with a big effect.
During liposuction, the number of fat cells in the areas concerned is reduced and in this way a permanently harmonious body silhouette is achieved. The principal purpose of liposuction is not so much a decrease in weight as body contouring.
Naturally, a reduction of the amount of cellulite belongs to the body-shaping treatments. In this area we have already obtained outstanding results thanks to the use of the most modern devices.
Liposuction - background
During ‘suction-assisted fat removal’, the number of fat cells is specifically reduced in the affected areas and in this way a harmonious body silhouette is permanently achieved. The principal purpose of liposuction is not a decrease in weight, but body contouring.
A further possibility for body contouring is the use of body lifting. For more information about this, please click here.
Preliminary interview
The method has been optimized in the last few years, especially by physicians from the Rosenpark Hospital, thanks to their scientific work to such an extent that it can predictably satisfy the requirements of patients for aesthetic body contouring. Liposuction is feasible today from the cheeks to the ankles on nearly all body regions. It is important to welcome you personally to a consultation in order to examine the zones to be treated and to explain to you both the possibilities and limitations of liposuction.
Liposuction in tumescent local anaesthesia is possible and promises to be successful when performed correctly starting from the age of 18 until a great age without limitation, if the patient is healthy.
The method
With tumescent local anaesthesia, a strongly diluted local anaesthetic solution is introduced in large quantities into the subcutaneous fatty tissue of the areas to be treated. Besides leading to freedom from pain in these zones, it is possible after an individually long time to act to soften the fat lobules in such a way, on the one hand, that they can be more easily removed. On the other hand, the post-interventional recovery of the skin suspending apparatus stands in the foreground, which represents the connection between the hypodermis and the musculature and contains blood vessels, nerves and lymph channels.
By the use of vibration cannulas, the suction technology has made large steps forward again in achieving cosmetic results to satisfy the highest pretensions, with rapid recovery of the treated patient. Via several 4 millimetre skin incisions, the fatty tissue is loosened by means of the vibrating cannula with only small residual injury to the skin suspending apparatus, the accompanying vessels, nerves and lymph channels. It is important hereby that the alert patient, who can turn back and forth during suctioning, can tense individual muscles or can stand up to evaluate the symmetry during suctioning. For patients who are very anxious, an anaesthetist is always available to ensure a completely symptom-free intervention using intravenous short-acting anxiolytic or pain-relieving medications
The postoperative phase
After completion of the treatment, the small skin incisions are just ‘stuck’ together, not sewn, and the patient is given a fitted corselet padded with absorbent material to wear. As the anaesthetic is only partially suctioned off, this is absorbed within the next 12 - 48 hours by the dressing. On the first day, changes of the bandage are necessary at different time intervals. All in all, this intervention can be performed ambulatory - you should, however, not be alone the first two days because of the changes of dressing. After one week you may and after four weeks at the latest you should leave off the corset. Starting from the second day you will experience pain similar to (strongly) aching muscles, which lasts approx. 2 - 3 weeks. As for all operations, we attach particularly great importance in the cosmetic field to precautionary measures. You will receive an antithrombotic for 5 days as well as an antibiotic for 5 days as a prophylaxis against infections. During the entire healing phase, the team of the Rosenpark Hospital is available and at your disposal.
Treatment results
Already after 24 hours the new body silhouette can be clearly recognizable. Residual bruising as well as liquid depots can retard a detailed evaluation of the operational result for several weeks. The time of maximum ‘streamlining’ is to be expected after approximately 4 months. The condition of the skin will continue to adapt to the non-operated areas in the following months. An evaluation of the cosmetic result is possible after 4 - 6 months. We would then like to welcome you at the latest to a control examination in the Rosenpark Klinik.
The risks
Using the modern and gentle suction technology with a vibration cannula, the usual risks of any operation, such as thrombosis, embolism, infections, bleeding, vascular and nerve damage, are extremely rare, but cannot to be completely excluded. In the last 10 years, more than 10000 patients were treated by us without substantial complications.
The consultation
We can explain your individual situation and the treatment concept which is appropriate for you as well as attainable results in a personal discussion. In this way, you can inform yourself about the possibilities and limitations of your own situation and get to know your treating physician personally. We shall be pleased to make a consultation appointment with you.
Suction curettage with hyperhidrosis axillaris
In the case of excessive sweating (hyperhidrossis), suction curettage of the sweat glands under the arm offers itself as an alternative to the treatment with botulinum toxin A (Botox). This involves a small operation in tumescence local anaesthesia. Via 2 to 3 small skin incisions, the sweat glands under the armpit are removed and sucked off. First, the zones with the greatest sweat formation are marked in a special test procedure. Already next day you can pursue your usual activities again without any greater impairment. Only carrying heavier physical loads and sport should be avoided in the first few days after the operation. With suction curettage of the sweat glands in the armpits (axilla), the number of sweat glands is lasting reduced and sweat formation is reduced to “a normal degree".
Body Lifting
With too much surplus skin, body lifting is a good option to improve the figure. If the skin has been stretched after a drastic weight decrease or, for example, after pregnancy, it will no longer completely return to its original state in many cases. Also, age can also reduce the elasticity of the skin and affect the body form unfavourably. In this case, lifting in tumescence local anaesthesia helps. Areas frequently affected here are the upper arms, the inside of the legs or the abdomen. Also, leg or buttock is regularly carried out by us.
Even if liposuction does not lead to a sufficient tightening of the insides of the thighs, buttocks, tummy or upper arms, different types of body lifting in tumescence local anaesthesia or a full anaesthetic are available at your disposal, e.g. the upper arm lifting, inside leg lifting or abdominal wall tightening.
Lifting
Centre for liposuction and body contouring
- Skin loses its elasticity
- Fat is redistributed
The consequence is a sagging of skin-fat according to the force of gravity: With arms outstretched, the upper arm portions sag, the connective and fatty tissue on the legs slips towards the knees. The belly and the buttock areas do not form a recess.
If after liposuction the sagging skin portions do not sufficiently form an outline themselves, this can be restored with a lifting operation. The surplus tissue is removed. The residual scars are positioned in areas, which are not noticeable.
One aim of an aesthetic lifting is the re-establishment of the outer appearance, giving an un-operated impression, and a long-lasting result.
Upper-arm lifting
If liposuction of the upper arms was not able to give the desired result and over-hanging skin and fat disturb the outer appearance, a lifting operation can help improve this.
What happens in the operation?
- Condition of the connective tissue
- Continual movement in the operational area.
The operation is carried out in a general anaesthetic or also in local anaesthesia. The patient is monitored 24 hours and can go home the next day. 3-4 days of antibiotic protection and a special tape bandage are necessary. After 8 days, the patient can follow his/her vocational and social obligations again.
Abdominal lifting
In the case of sagging skin in the abdominal area, e.g. after several pregnancies or a big decrease in weight, the outer appearance can be changed favourably using an abdominal wall plastic. Before a possible operation, it is advisable to have terminated the weight reduction.
Leg and bottom lifting
If the elasticity of the flexible fibres of the skin diminishes, the skin and the subcutaneous fatty tissue lose their tone, usually first on the inside of the thigh. This is a normal change in the course of life and leads to fat depots on the inside of the thigh and the fold of the buttocks. If the desired result cannot be obtained with liposuction of the legs and over-hanging skin and fat tissue disturb, a lifting operation can improve the outer appearance.
What happens in the operation?
To start with (if not already happened), liposuction of the inside thighs is carried out in (TLA) tumescence local anaesthesia. Via a skin incision from the groin running into the fold of the buttocks, the sagged skin-fat area is exposed above the muscle fascia and tightened upwards. The surplus skin portion is removed.
Cellulitis treatment
The cause of cellulite lies in the special structure of female connective tissue. Cellulite results from fat deposits in the subcutaneous connective tissue. Full fat cells become lumpy stick like grapes together and swell up between the connective tissue strands.
With a special massage called Endermologie® (LPG®), it is possible it to activate the natural fat metabolism in such a way that the skin affected by cellulitis becomes supple and taut again. This massage is suitable also for pre- and/or subsequent treatment by liposuction and promotes the healing process. Newer procedures, like acoustic shock waves used in the medicine to destroy cells, are in the clinical trial phase with the goal of achieving a lasting positive result for cellulitis treatment. The Rosenpark Hospital is one of the few test centres for this new technology.
For lasting visible results, repetitive treatments are necessary.
