Botulinum smoothes mimic wrinkles - for a relaxed, natural facial expression

Our mimic muscles are constantly in motion. Some parts of the face are regularly tensed in the same way: When we are concentrating, for example, we often unconsciously draw our eyebrows together. In the long run, this creates the so-called frown line or thinker's crease, which gives the face a grim expression.

When does treatment with botulinum make sense?

Botulinum type A is an effective remedy for these wrinkles. It is also successfully used for crow's feet at the outer corner of the eye, lip wrinkles, drooping corners of the mouth and the so-called wrinkled chin. Botulinum type A smoothes mimic wrinkles and gives the face back a relaxed, friendly expression. The dermatologists and botulinum experts at the Rosenpark Klinik use their professional experience and trained eye to ensure that your natural facial expressions are preserved.

What does this method do?

Botulinum type A, which is approved as a drug and as such can only be used by medical professionals, is a tension blocker. It acts like a muscle brake that slows down the transmission of the command to contract from the nerve to the muscle for about four to six months. Botulinum has been used successfully to treat neurological disorders for decades. The fact that it also smoothes wrinkles with a fraction of the dosage was discovered almost as a side effect. Today, it is impossible to imagine aesthetics without botulinum type A as a proven, low-risk anti-wrinkle therapeutic agent. It is also successfully used to treat hyperhidrosis (increased sweating) and migraine.

Expert Tip:

Dr. Birgit Buxmeyer: "I rely on Botox® for myself. It is a drug that has been researched for a long time and is quickly done. But less is more: I don't find it nice to be injected completely smooth."

What else can you do

  • Depending on the type and depth of the wrinkles, fillers such as hyaluronic acid, Radiesse® or poly-L-lactic acid are also suitable for injections. Sunken areas of the face are given more volume again.
  • With the help of modern laser therapies, wrinkles can be treated on an outpatient basis. After a short time you are ready to go again.
  • Thermage® is a gentle method for smoothing out crow's feet at the outer corner of the eye. It uses the stimulating effect of radio frequency waves.
  • The cosmetic experts at the Rosenpark Klinik will advise you in detail and give you detailed recommendations - from pure skin care to high-quality, individually formulated anti-ageing creams.
