Overly robust calves can spoil the joy of beautiful clothes: They ruin the effect of short skirts or shorts and sometimes make it impossible to wear boots.
For gentle slimming of your calves, Rosenpark Clinic, as a center of competence for body contouring, now also offers you treatment with Botox® (botulinum).
Botox® is frequently used colloquially as a synonym for botulinum products, although it is the preparation from the American manufacturer Allergan.
Aesthetic Treatment | Medicinic Treatment |
---|---|
Vistabel® (Allergan) | Botox® (Allergan) |
Bocouture® (Merz) | Xeomin® (Merz) |
Azzalure® (Galderma) | Dysport® (Galderma) |
In aesthetic medicine, Botox® is known above all for its effects in wrinkle treatment. It works like a brake for the muscles. For approximately four to six months, it inhibits the excretion of so-called messengers with which the nerves give the muscle its order to contract.
If Botox® is used for the treatment of heavy calves, the treated muscles of the lower leg relax and the calf becomes slimmer – without losing mobility or strength. The botulinum treatment may only be performed by physicians.
Botox® is selectively injected with a thin cannula into individual strands of the calf muscle. The small injection sites are only visible for a few minutes. There are otherwise no traces of the treatment left behind – apart from slimmer calves after approximately two to four weeks. Patients can immediately resume their normal daily activities.
After four to six months, the effect of Botox® has completely subsided and it is recommended that the treatment be repeated. This is because the body gradually breaks down botulinum – to the same degree, the treated muscle strand recovers its mobility and circumference.
