Expert tip:

Dr. Gerhard Sattler: "The lower eyelid region is very complex – along with the surgical lower eyelid lifting procedure, we at the Rosenpark Clinic also offer many very effective, minimally-invasive methods for rejuvenating the lower eyelid, such as, for example, hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin, or fractional laser.“

Effectively Correct Under-Eye Bags and Drooping Lower Lids – For a Friendly Expression

Lower eyelid correction minimizes under-eye bags and tightens skin and connective tissue.

Nowadays, under-eye bags and excess skin on the lower lid can be corrected in a nearly risk-free fashion on an outpatient basis through lower lid tightening.

At Rosenpark Clinic, we specialize in surgical eyelid lifting. A measure of our success is an appropriate, natural result which reflects your personal facial expressions and individuality.

Creases at the outer edge of the eye, on the lower lid, and especially under-eye bags make the face look haggard and occasionally unfriendly. These form when skin, connective tissue and muscles under the eyes slacken and fat moves into the cavity of the eye. In lower lid correction, the excess skin and fat is removed – for a more friendly look.

How is it performed?

  • Under-eye bags can be removed from the inside via the conjunctiva of the eyelid in a minimally invasive fashion.
  • Excess fat tissue is removed as part of a minor lower eyelid tightening. To do this, a tiny incision is needed on the inner side of the lower eyelid.
  • In the case of pure excess skin on the lower lid which is expressed as a crease, the eyelid is tightened from the outside. The incision in this case is at the lower edge of the eyelid and is not visible later to others.
  • For some rings under the eyes injections technique is enough and surgery not necessary.

What sort of anesthesia is required?

In the case of lower eyelid correction with an internal incision in the conjunctival fold, we use light sedation for our patients. The external eyelid tightening is performed under local anesthesiaFor more information about your options for a comfortable, pain-free treatment see the anesthesia section.

When can I resume normal daily activities?

Essentially immediately – in the first few days, wearing sunglasses is suggested. Stitches have to be removed after five to seven days. Small bruises and areas of swelling of the eyelids will resolve after seven to 14 days. The procedure itself is performed on an outpatient basis.

What else you can do

  • Having a loss of fat in the lower eyelid region means having to deal with dark circles around the eyes. Here, an injection of hyaluronic acid or autologous fat can not only eliminate a tired look but also the dark shadows under the eyes are significantly reduced – with a very natural, lasting result.
  • Wrinkles can also be treated without incisions using a laser and Botox®.
